$100 booking fee/rental deposit is charged at the time of booking and is non refundable. The balance will be due 30 days ahead of the pick up date and will be automatically charged to the credit card used to pay the deposit. If a cancellation is made within 30 days of your arrival, any payments made are non-refundable.
Bookings receiving the prepay discount that are cancelled 30 days ahead of arrival are issued a credit on file, less the $100 booking fee, to be used up to a year from the original vehicle rental pick up date. In the event that the St. Thomas airport closes and the guest is unable to travel, a credit will be held on file for the payments made for up to a year.
All renters must me 25 years of age or older and possess a valid U.S. driver's license and a VISA, M/C or Discover in the same name in order to book vehicle.
Additional drivers fees apply daily. If added drivers are on the insurance policy of the main driver, no added driver fees are charged.
Return vehicle with the same amount of gas as at the time of pick up or renter will be charged $20.00 for refueling plus the price of gas at $8/ gallon. For convenience, customers have the option to prepay for gas at $8/gallon.
If the rental agreement is broken, the vehicle is returned early or confiscated due to the renter not following the terms and conditions, the renter is still responsible for the entire cost of the rental vehicle.
All passengers must wear seatbelts at all times. Children under the age of 5 years old or under 40 pounds must be in a child seat, according to VI law.
The Jeep must be closed and locked when unattended. And be sure windows are closed for security and to prevent rain damage to the vehicle interior. Removal of tops $500.00 fine per day.
Daily government tax/fees will be applied to the rental.
Vehicles are to be used only for transporting people, no hauling.
Vehicle is to remain on St. John paved roads, with the exception of your place of residence. It is our company policy that if a vehicle is transferred off island or driven on sand or in the ocean, a $1,000.00 fine per day will be charged to the renter and no roadside assistance will be available. In the event a vehicle is transferred off island or driven on sand or in the ocean, the renter is responsible for returning the vehicle to the St. John rental office, as well as pay all expenses associated with the return of the vehicle and related repairs, damages or fines.
No pets allowed in vehicles.
Traffic/Parking/Towing or other violations are to be paid by renter.
Replacement keys are $400 per key.
Renter assumes the liability for all tire damage due to the negligence of the driver (nail in tire, punctured tire, accident causing tire damage, etc.). If the tire requires replacement, the renter is responsible for the cost of the replacement.
Rentals start at 2PM, if you would like to pick up between 9AM - 2PM, it is based on availability & there is a $50 "early arrival" fee.
We close at 5PM but can stay as late as 8PM to meet you for a later pick up upon request. If you need us to stay later than 8PM, there is a $50 charge.
Rentals are due back at 12PM or sooner, refer to your rental contract when on island where we base the vehicle return time on your outgoing flight time that day.
If you need to return before 8AM, there is a $50 fee & we need 24 hrs notice to make staffing arrangements.
If the vehicle is returned late, after the 12PM return time, there will be a late fee of $100.00 per hour. If you wish to extend your reservation, you must first contact Sunshine's Jeep Rental to confirm availability. Vehicle returns occur at our rental lot at the top of the roundabout in Cruz Bay, St. John. (See our listing on google maps for more detail)
In the event that the vehicle becomes unavailable or requires a repair, Sunshine's Jeep Rental reserves the right to upgrade/change the reservation to a different vehicle type or cancel the booking if no other options available. Every effort will be made to assist the guest to find a vehicle elsewhere in the event that no vehicles are available.
Brush excess sand off at the beach before entering the vehicle. Wet seats and/or cigarette smoke are subject to a charge for cleaning/ drying the interior of the vehicle. $250.00 charge for excessive sand or wet seats and $500.00 for smoking in the vehicle.
Roadside assistance is an optional addition at the time of rental booking. However, if roadside assistance is needed and it was not requested at the time of vehicle pick up, the renter will be charged $50.00 per hour for the road assistance and for all services rendered, including travel time. ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE: out of gas, lost key, flat tire, battery low, other issue due to guest negligence. Available on paved roads only.
A $500 security deposit fee will be held on your card at the time of pick up. We have a security deposit waiver of $15/day, waiving the $500 charge. Any charges for cleaning fees and or damages will be waived up to the first $500 if the waiver is purchased.
Insurance
USVI Law states that all renters must have rental car coverage and their insurance is primary.
The rental includes third-party liability coverage in the amount of 10/25/10 as required by Virgin Islands Law. The liability coverage is secondary to all other coverage available to the renter; and this coverage is not applicable to the extent that other available coverage meets or exceeds the 10/25/10 limits.
All drivers listed on the rental agreement must provide proof of full rental car coverage (liability and collision) in their name issued by a US insurance company. Credit card coverages and travel insurance policies will NOT meet this requirement.
In the event of any damage done during the rental period with our vehicle to another vehicle, our vehicle or property, (by driver or another party) renter agrees to pay the $1500 minimum damage to be charged to their credit card on file immediately. We will then obtain and email a repair estimate from a local body shop to the renter. Once renter makes a claim with their insurance and we are paid in full, the $1500 will be refunded back to their credit card.
Renters assume all liability for any new damage to the vehicle (not listed on the rental agreement) and all claims against Sunshine's Jeep Rental not covered by renter's insurance. Renter will pay for all charges up front for any repairs, before leaving the island and before the return date on the rental agreement. If vehicle is returned after the contract expires and has damages, rental agreement is still considered to be in place until the vehicle has been inspected by a Sunshine's Jeep Rental representative. Renter is still responsible for all damages.
Renter is responsible for all damages and injuries resulting from their negligence and shall hold harmless and indemnify Sunshine's Jeep Rental of any claim and/or suit of expense arising there from. Renter agrees to pay for any and all lost rentals as a result of the vehicle being repaired.
In the event of a dispute, it must be litigated in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Renter will be responsible for their own attorney fees. For use of your "personal" insurance- you must provide your insurance company name, policy#, expiration date and agent contact number. Renter will pay all costs including lost reservations, directly involved for any damages and/ or accidents and will have to apply for reimbursement from their Personal Insurance Company.
